1st Letter from England

July 25, 2013

Hey y'all,
I just arrived at the MTC about two hours ago.  Its nice to finally be here and the area is beautiful.  When I arrived at the Chicago airport there was one other Elder already waiting at the gate, Elder Pallin.  A few more came by periodically but then the SLC flight must have landed and about 20-30 Elders and 5 sisters all flooded in at once.  The flights were all good.  I slept most of the long one. I was sitting next to a guy named Elder Erickson but there was an empty row behind us so we just spread out to be comfortable.  So far at the MTC we went into the meeting room and got individual little packets with our name tags, missionary handbook, and a couple of information papers.  We have a list of things to do like take a photograph for the wall, meet with the MTC president, meet with the medical adviser, eat, and of course, e-mail home to say we made it safely.  We ate lunch and guess what,  I'm pretty sure the chef is that same bubbly guy from the video!  We had sandwiches and stuff and they were delicious.  Also I'm supposed to tell you that our P-days are on Wednesday and that you will hear more from me then.  Nothing else has really happened, I don't know who my MTC companion will be yet, I find that out at 4:00 PM today.  It's only 1:30 right now.  I have only taken a couple of pictures so I'll probably send them Wednesday.  Hope y'all are doing well and aren't too sad without me :P  Oh and also, can y'all send or email  my immunization records and my driving record?  I'm not sure if I'll really need them but they asked for the immunizations and most people didn't have them.  I'd like to have them just in case though.   It rained a bit earlier today, it's probably about 85 degrees outside.  It's really nice here.  We are the biggest group to enter this mtc at once but not the most they've ever had stay here.  Pretty close though.
Love y'all,
Elder Pogue

Here's a picture from the Chicago airport.  This was most of us but not all of us.

  2. My daughter just left for the MTC last week. We were overwhelmed as she is our oldest child, and the first to leave home. Then her plane had a scare and had to make an emergency landing back here at home. Then they rerouted her to Dallas, so she didn't get to meet up with the other outgoing missionaries, and actually had to travel all alone the entire way to Preston. :( I have really enjoyed reading your blog and the letters from your son. Thanks for sharing!
